O’s Notes: Pivotal Arc consists of a three-part “Violin Concerto” and a four-part “String Quartet” culminated with the title track. The concept for this work was born in 2007 when violinist Natalie Bonin met Nachoff backstage before a concert in Toronto. 13 years later, we have their masterpiece! There is great symphonic sense with expressions of multiple moods as the musicians dance to Nachoff’s prescribed emotions. The Concerto has more silky passages while the Quartet evokes more mystery and adventure.
