O’s Notes: Volume two continues where Vol. I left off. These are first rate standards featuring strong instrumentals along with rich vocal interludes from Robin McElhatten. Miles is more prominent here on alto sax and strong musicians like Fred Hersch (p), Jerry Bergonzi (sax), Bruce Barth (p) and Mike Turk who plays a nice harmonica solo on “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” join him. Eight pieces, all well done.
