O’s Notes: This was bassist Ray Brown’s last recording. It was made in New York during March 2002. The trio: piano, bass and guitar, is well balanced and welcoming. These musicians are well polished and express themselves in both lead and supporting roles. Malone’s work on guitar is warm graced by the chord rhythms from Alexander while Ray walks the beats as steady as ever. There is also a bonus CD with producer’s cuts from 1993 – 2001. This bonus is a fascinating compilation of Brown’s best on Telarc; it’s worth more than the price of the CD alone!
