O’s Notes: Tom plays the vibes and leads a quintet with Chris Cheek (sax), Henry Hey (p), Matt Clohwey (b) and Fernc Nemeth (d). Beckum composed and produced all of the music for this session. It is a peaceful set highlighted by “In Flight”, “World Cup” with samba hints and “Grillin'”. It is a well-recorded session allowing us to hear all of the nuances including gasps during the quiet passages and Tom striking the vibes. It is a good combination of up-tempo tunes and relaxed pace ballads.
