O’s Notes: Saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi follows up Intersecting Lines, a friendly duel with saxophonist Dick Oates with Rigamaroll. This time he spars with trumpeter Phil Grenadier. Dave Santoro (b) and Andrea Michelutti (d) return from Jerry’s last two recordings. Pianist Bruce Barth joins the band and makes his presence known. They play eight Bergonzi original songs that surface his powerful sax, his gentle melodies and most importantly his confident poise. He works well with others extracting passages that make the music sing.
