O’s Notes: At times Roads Less Traveled sounds like a full-blown orchestra but there are only two musicians playing! Okay, there is a lot of dubbing with Michael Lake playing all alto trombone parts, percussion and keyboards, and Gerry Pagano playing bass trombone. They waltz through a dozen jazz classics and “The Ecuadorian Two-Step” written by Lake. Their approach works well resulting in a session that is enjoyable and easy to embrace. Lake’s arrangements, the rich harmonies and spot on tone make this a solid session.
