O’s Notes: Ron, Baba Elefante and Steve Dixon make up the trio. They play modern jazz, mostly Ron’s compositions. The music is tight with a lot of cool interplay. Baba (b) anchors the lower registers as well as contributing melodies. Dixon adds fresh accents using the pop of the snare and nice work on the cymbals. The glue comes from Kobayashi’s piano. “Are You There”, “Counter Culture” and “In The Ozone” stand out.
