O’s Notes: Israeli bassist, composer Elam Friedlander leads a quartet with Abraham Burton (t-sax), Eric McPherson (d) and Luis Perdomo (p) for his latest release Sound Elements. Burton opens “Fire” like an inferno, the first of five unique original tracks. He relaxes a bit yet remains intense on “Air”. Our favorite is “Water” with fine work by McPherson opening on the cymbals followed by Perdomo’s soothing piano.
