O’s Notes: The opener is a cool, refreshing arrangement of “Beyond The Sea”. It sets the stage for what follows. “Being Cool”, “From Tom To Tom”, “Obi” and “Bridges” are highlights in a nice collection of originals and Brazilian classics. Guitarists, Toninho and Romero Lubambo as well as Kenny Werner (p) and other talented musicians join Lellis. Guest vocalist Roseanna Vitro adds spice to a rousing version of “Mixing/Tomba in 7/4”. Tom opens his soul to let his emotions and spirits reign on each composition. He’s singing, scatting and gently caressing the words where appropriate to deliver a strong message. It is very well done and enjoyable listening.
