O’s Notes: Dave injects a potent dose of jazz into the music of Stevie Wonder, both hits and some more obscure pieces. The arrangements are very well done transforming popular R&B music into jazz that is appealing to both contemporary and straight ahead jazz lovers. Pietro leads a rich brass section with his saxophones. They are backed by an excellent rhythm section including pianist David Berkman, Scott Colley on bass and drummer Brian Blade. We liked “Too High”, “Visions” and “Smile Please” best.
