O’s Notes: Drummer Andrew Swift assembles a fine team that includes George Cables (p), Dwayne Bruno (b), Wycliffe Gordon (tb), producer Michael Dease (tb, sax, flugelhorn) and many other talented musicians. It is an outstanding debut starting with “Kisor The Despiser” and keeping us fully engaged through twelve selections. “The Rio Dawn” and “Alfie” feature vocals by Vanessa Perea; Wycliffe Gordon sings on “Brandy” and the rest are instrumentals. All are enjoyable.
