O’s Notes: Bob leads a brassy large ensemble from his tenor sax chair. He also composed six of the nine tunes here giving us a fresh set of swinging music. The band is precise all the way through with rich spirited harmony. We felt the groove on “Swangalang” with solos from Larry Farrell (tb), Roger Rosenberg (bs) and Scott Wendholt (t). Kurt Elling sings “Minuano” the lone vocal track with a fleeting solo from pianist Phil Markowitz. We also liked the bounce on “Each Day”.
