O’s Notes: NY guitarist, Mark Elf has been churning out unadulterated (self-produced) straight-ahead jazz for five years, most of it landing on the top of the charts. He’s Swingin’ on his latest release, allowing the tones of his instrument to blossom. He’s primarily isn a trio with Robert Hurst (b) and Winard Harper (d). Two tracks add pianist Aaron Goldberg and two more are solo guitar. This outing is more relaxed than his past burners.
