O’s Notes: Pianist and producer Hector Martignon assembles an extra large ensemble including some of New York’s finest musicians. We are bathed with strings, brass and a tight rhythm section and yet we are never over saturated. Highlights are “The Fruit Vendors Last Dream” with a fine solo from bassist John Benitez, “Mozart Interrupted”, “Nostaglios Del Futuro” and “Estate” with a fine vibes solo from Christos Rafalides. Coordinating an orchestra is imagined by many but rarely pulled off with the clarity and precision of The Big Band Theory. Hats off to Hector!
