O’s Notes: One of the most popular jazz bandleaders was trombonist Glenn Miller. He developed his skills playing with many different bands in the 1920s before leading his own large ensemble. They captured the hearts of America with hit after hit in the late 1930s. Twenty of his best are included here as well as a documentary look on the accompanying DVD. While most fans appreciate Glenn’s contributions to jazz, few know of his tragic death in 1944 as he was attempting to share entertainment with our military troops. His memories live on here as both an honored citizen and a fine swinging musician.
