O’s Notes: This is another CD/DVD from Bluebird. It is focused on the life of Artie Shaw and his evolution in swing on the clarinet. The 1930s were prime time for clarinetists and Shaw was among the best with his romantic tone. Beginning with his rendition of Porter’s “Begin The Beguine”, Porter takes us through 20 selections (1938 -1945) with a big band behind him. The DVD is a nice bonus Ð digital liner notes!
