O’s Notes: Drummer Ralph Peterson anchors two different ensembles on The Duality Perspective. While the characteristics are different, Peterson’s composition and timekeeping keep the theme connected. The quartet plays the first five selections with Joseph Doubleday (vibes) and Felix Peikli (cl) driving the melodies. They hand lead lines over to the horns in the sextet: Sean Jones (t), Walter Smith (ts) and Tia Fuller (as, ss) for the second half. We enjoyed both perspectives.
