O’s Notes: Renowned jazz pianist George Cables was 71 when“The George Cables Songbook“was recorded last year. He hasn’t lost a step and embellished his music with a fine team of musicians including Essiet Essiet (b), Victor Lewis (d) and Craig Handy (sax). Sarah Elizabeth Charles adds vocals on six of the eleven tracks and does a fine job on all of them! “Melodious Funk”, “Think On Me” and “The Mystery of Monifa Brown” are among the best in a strong set.
