O’s Notes: They open with the title track that quickly establishes the pace. Special guest Joe Locke (vibes and marimba) stands out adding an element to these Latin grooves that differentiates and makes the music flow. Henry “Pucho” Brown plays timbales and helps establish a multitude of beats ranging from mambo to the funky soul beats of “Born To Groove” and the Latin tinged cover of “Superstition”. This is a true reflection of his roots in Spanish Harlem and a club called The Hideout where the mixtures or soul, jazz and mambo once prevailed. Retro? No, it still feels good today!
