O’s Notes: Ethan Ardelli is a drummer and composer from Nova Scotia and now based in Toronto. He assembles a quartet with Luiz Deniz (sax), Chris Donnelly (p) and Devon Henderson (b). Their music is free spirited, heavily syncopated, modern jazz. They get off to a great start with “Aqua” and take us through a rather grandiose set of Ardelli’s compositions. We enjoyed “5:55 AM”, “Shanghai-La Pearl” and “Thanks For Something”.
