O’s Notes: Pianist, composer Lynne Arriale is transparent, honest and passionate in her music and her message. The Lights Are Always On comes with that spirit to honor the resolve of some of the leaders who distinguished themselves in our fight for democracy. Arriale leads her trio with drummer E.J. Strickland and bassist Jasper Somsen. This is a peaceful set of relaxing, inspirational music. Among the heroes saluted: Colonel Alexander Vindmen, Ruth Baden Ginsburg, John Lewis, The Capital Police and the many healthcare professionals who cared for us during the pandemic. Lynne dedicates the album to her late husband Don.
