O’s Notes: Pianist Bobby Timmons plays with that cool blues feel. These 1964 sessions were Bobby’s first two at Prestige. The first, Little Barefoot Soul, was meant to be a quintet but circumstance made it a trio and after realizing the magic of three, they tried it again on Chun-King. The groupings are Timmons with “Tootie” Heath (d) and Keter Betts (b) or Sam Jones (b) and Ray Lucas (d). These cat cook with a swinging soul that became characteristic of Timmons recordings.
