O’s Notes: Wycliffe plays lower register brass, tuba & trombone, breathing new life into southern classics and introducing several strong originals. Guests include Marcus Printup (t) and Ted Nash (fl, s) along with a strong rhythm section of Rodney Whitaker (b), Eric Reed (p) and either Wynard Harper or Herlin Riley on drums. There’s a lot to enjoy on this CD, especially the all trombone version of “Danny Boy”.
