O’s Notes: Thrasher Dream Trio is leader/drummer Gerry Gibbs, bassist Ron Carter and pianist Kenny Barron. To say that this is Gerry’s dream come true is an understatement. Each of the musicians plays up to their reputations and Gibbs pulls the band together as if they played together for years! The standout is Kenny Barron, who handles most of the melodies in a program that includes recreated standards that have universal appeal. It is a winning performance.
