O’s Notes: Earlier this year we reviewed Reunion (4/4) Bob Lark’s latest release directing alumni of the DePaul University Jazz Ensemble. This time guest drummer Jeff Hamilton keeps time for the powerful large ensemble. Bob Lark’s success with his evolving band lies with his instruction of dynamics, improvisation, teamwork, swing, nuance and appreciate of the art. Time Passes On is yet another stellar release. It is electrifying with Hamilton exerting himself like a child in a candy store! His solo on “Samba De Martelo” is just one example.
