O’s Notes: Drummer Mike Melito is a native of Rochester, NY, and an ever-evolving student of his instrument, even at 56! His playing is rhythmic and supportive of the band, in this case a quintet including Grant Stewart (t-sax), Joe Magnarelli (t, flugelhorn), Jeb Patton (p) and Neal Miner (b). They swing through ten selections with Melito miked up a tad. Highlights are “Ruby My Dear” with the melody rotating among Stewart, Patton & Magnarelli, Stewart’s “Three For Carson”, “Straight Street”, and “Make Believe” featuring Patton.
