O’s Notes: From the opening notes of the first selection “Johnny Come Lately” this set is swinging hard! Co-leader Beegie Adair (p), Roger Spencer (b) and Chris Brown (d) are a confident rhythm section for saxophonist Don Aliquo. The program includes ten freshly arranged jazz standards that Aliquo uses as a launching pad for his interpretations. Don’s solos are so fluid that they are seamless with the melodies. We enjoyed the entire set and replayed it several times with a smile on our face!
