O’s Notes: Conguero and percussionist Norman Hedman leads his band Tropique on a spirited and festive journey of Caribbean music. The percussion is the melody in many cases but Craig Rivers (fl), Alexei Tsiganov (vibes) and Sam Furance (sax) add crisp blends throughout. Ada Dyer ads soulful vocals on “Closer” before the strong calypso beats of “Because I Can” kick in. This is an enjoyable and vibrant session.
