O’s Notes: This famous foursome consisted of Laurindo Almeida (g), Ray Brown (b), Bud Shank (sax, fl) and drummer Jeff Hamilton. Jeff replaced Shelly Manne in 1978 but the group was not diminished, just moved in yet another positive direction. Two By Four is a 2 CD set consisting of 1978’s Watch What Happens and 1979’s Live at Montreux Summer 1979. It’s a total of 12 songs, mostly covers of classics but all nice arrangements.
