O’s Notes: Jason Marsalis is one of the lesser-known members of the talented family from New Orleans. Lesser known but endowed with an abundance of talent. He has produced a cadre of jazz album and composed a wealth of good music including this vibraphone-based release. The rhythm section is Austin Johnson (p), Will Goble (b) and Dave Potter (d) with Marsalis playing vibes. We enjoyed the tranquility of “Characters” and “Whistle For Willie” contrasting with the spirited “Blues for the 29%ers”.
