O’s Notes: Todd plays a variety of horns, showcased on “Days of Wine and Roses” an overdubbed solo. He is joined by Steve Huffsteter (t) and Dan Higgins (sax) on the opener “Nightwalk” where the harmonized brass blends are ever so sweet. Billy Childs tickles the ivory, Ralph Penland plays drums and bass duty is shared by David Carpenter and John Clayton, all with first rate performances. The program swings but is mainly soothing ballads like “Quiet Time” and “Emily”.
