O’s Notes: Portland-based drummer, percussionist and composer Cameron Siegal assembles a worldly group of musicians for his debut World Junk. He marries world music and Afro-Latin, jazz styles in his collaborations with musicians throughout the Americas including Peruvian guitarist Carlos Odria and Ghanaian singer/drummer Obuamah Laud Addy. His music takes on a very worldly character with a heavy dose of warm percussion. Among the best are Cameron’s own “Two Is One” and “Cajun Blue” featuring Australian violinist Mark Russell and Jorge Contintntino on pifano, the indigenous Brazilian flute.
