O’s Notes: Trumpeter Joe Battaglia leads The New York Big Band through fourteen swinging classics. This is a fine set of ‘old-fashioned jazz’. Lou Caputo (fl, ts), Gene Drab (p) and Battaglia are among the many featured soloists. They step into the 1970s with “The Hustle/Tangerine” and Keren Tzobetaro add vocals a few songs notably “Skylark” but our favorite is the finale “Big Band Swing”.
