O’s Notes: Pianist, vocalist, arranger, Matt Lemmler, visits his roots in New Orleans with five tunes, each dedicated to Crescent City jazz legends. There is a solid lineup of musicians behind him with Brian Blade (d), Joel Frahm (sax), Nathan Lambertson (b), Shane Theriot (g), and Ashlin Parker (t). This is a Powerhouse, and they don’t disappoint us. There’s nothing fancy here, it just feels good! We also enjoyed Matt’s vocals on “The City of New Orleans”.
