O’s Notes: Jazz keyboardist Sullivan Fortner leads a trio featuring bassist Tyrone Allen II and drummer Kayvon Gordon for his new album, Leave That In There. This is a mellow, relaxing instrumental set, geared towards the contemporary side, but certainly approachable by traditional jazz lovers. All the work is inspired by his Louisiana past from sugarcane fields, and a strong sense of family evolving from slavery, migration, spirituality, and Katrina. Fortner makes a strong statement launching us into a new generation of jazz.
