O’s Notes: Bassist Harvey S takes on the leadership role for Cocolamus Bridge, a collection of all new originals except the arrangement of “Elli Gheal, a traditional Irish folk song. The music ranges from the Afro-Cuban vibe on “Coco Loco” and “Ike” to the swinging samba of “To Bea”. Guitarist Chris Cortez assembled the band of Texas based musicians. We enjoyed the warm ballads anchored by Harvie’s deep bass underpinnings, notably “Truth and Beauty” and the title track.
