O’s Notes: Israeli born pianist Tamir Hendelman assembles a fine jazz trio with Marco Panascia (b) and drummer Lewis Nash. This is his 2nd album as a leader and his debut on Resonance. The program includes some popular and lesser know standards with a couple of originals. They open up swinging on an old classic “Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams” with Tamir dancing across the ivory. The set is balanced with a touch of boss’s nova, some bop and ballads. Nash stands out with subtle accents like his brushwork on “Soft Winds”. The musicians work well together but it is clear that it is Tamir’s showcase an he promises to be a prominent force on the jazz scene playing with passion and the poise of a veteran on tunes like “BQE”.
