O’s Notes: This is a gentle jazz translation of some of Giacomo Puccini’s classical arias from Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Turandot and La Boheme. Saxophonist/Arranger Liebman is joined by Matt Wilson (d) and guest artists Phil Woods (sax & clarinet) and vocalist Lenora Zenzalai Helm. These masterpieces retain their glimmer under the free spirit and improvisation of jazz. Our favorites are “tre shirri” & “Vogliamenti bene” along with the peaceful pieces including Lenora’s rich voice.
