O’s Notes: The venerable Toots Thielemans performs in a European quartet with Karel Boehlee (p), Hein Van de Geyn (b) and Hans van Oosterhout (d). The program consists of excerpts from live concerts performed around Europe during 2006-8. The band is well knit and seamless even as they improvise. They recreate a dozen classics with Toots breathing in the magic like no one else can do. Just sit back and enjoy. You will certainly find a few of your favorites and be inspired to listen again and again. Be sure to take in Thielemans’ exceptional solo at the end of “Round Midnight”!
