O’s Notes: Enoch Smith, Jr. was initially a self-taught pianist before taking on the challenge of attending Berklee. His determination leads to Misfits, his stellar sophomore effort. The program contains traditional jazz rhythms with soulful vocals by Sarah Elizabeth Charles that expands the audience to include adult contemporary and soul jazz lovers. There are eight originals among the thirteen selections. Smith rolls on the unique arrangement of “Caravan” while Charles breathes warmth into the blues throughout the set.
