O’s Notes: These are mellow straight-ahead cuts. They open with “O Corko Mio”V then “Stuntman” both swinging tracks featuring the blend of Rovatti’s sax with Randy Brecker’s trumpet. Ada wrote all of the material with the exception of Gershwin’s “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”, a well done cover. The core quartet bops on “Under The Hat”, especially pianist Jill McCarron. Mike Stern complements Ada’s mellow sax on guitar, first with “Blues For Kahl” then for “Roman-ce”. Mike helps close the set adding the fusion element on “Forth Step”. Wise use of her guest artists help move this from an ordinary to very good album.
