O’s Notes: The pairing of Gordon’s trombone with Reed on piano as a duo is unusual but very effective. They are very complementary playing blues, bop and swing. Wycliffe adds a few raspy blue lyrics and scatting, New Orleans style, on “This Rhythm On My Mind”. This complements the heartfelt emotion that he breathes through his trombone. Eric is the perfect complement, excelling at his game, no matter what the style is. This union creates a delightful musical landscape.
